THE RFC MYC: Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC)-(NCAA Division III)

Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC)-(NCAA Division III)

Overview: After a shortened spring season of 2021 where Aurora and Lakeland both shared the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) championship at 3-0 overall, both the Spartans and Muskies were among two of the three teams to finish the fall 2021 regular season at 8-2 overall.

However, it was Aurora that managed to earn the NACC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs. That was thanks to the Spartans finishing unbeaten in conference play at 8-0, with the Muskies following in second place at 7-1, followed by the third team in Benedictine (Ill.) at 6-2. Aurora beat Benedictine and Lakeland in consecutive weeks, on October 30 and November 6, to help propel the Spartans to the conference crown. Aurora fell to Wheaton in the first round of the playoffs to finish its season at 8-3 overall.

With the 2022 season just around the corner, expect another close race for the NACC crown this fall, with all three of the aforementioned teams expecting to be a part of the conference championship conversation.
