CHEYNEY PLACED ON PROBATION

Just when things couldn't get any worse for the troubled Cheyney University football program, they just did. The NCAA Division II program in suburban Philadelphia was hit a three-year probation by the NCAA for major violations.

INAUGURAL GAME REMEMBERED 20 YEARS LATER

It may be hard to believe, but the 20th anniversary of the Arena Football League's first-ever game is just around the corner. On June 19, 1987, the Pittsburgh Gladiators played host to the Washington Commandos before more than 12,000 interested spectators at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena. That contest marked the beginning of the phenomenon known as "Arena Football".
