College Football 2021-2022: The Final Wrap-Up

Starting things off with the FCS National Championship Game on Saturday, January 8, 2022, with the North Dakota State University Bison winning its ninth title in the last 11 years, as they rolled past the Montana State University Bobcats, 38-10.

RFC Throwback Thursday Finale: NCAA Division I-AA National Championship Game Delaware vs. Eastern Kentucky-1982

The final installment of "RFC Throwback Thursday" for the 2021-2022 season turns the clock back to December 18, 1982. That was when the University of Delaware Blue Hens did battle with the Eastern Kentucky University Colonels for the NCAA Division I-AA (now FCS) national championship in Wichita Falls, Texas. Jumping out to a quick 17-0 lead after three quarters, the Colonels held off a late fourth-quarter rally from the Blue Hens in the final seconds to win their second-ever national championship by the final score of 17-14. With the win over Delaware, Eastern Kentucky finished the 1982 season undefeated at 13-0 overall. Meanwhile, with the loss to the Colonels, the Blue Hens settled for a final overall record of 12-2, with their only other loss coming to Temple on September 18.

*One game, the Hawai'i Bowl between Hawai'i and Memphis was canceled due to COVID-19 issues, while Central Michigan accepted an invitation to play in the Sun Bowl after Boise State entered COVID-19 protocols, leading to the cancelation of the Arizona Bowl. Central Michigan beat Washington State, 24-21, to win the Sun Bowl on New Year's Eve, Friday, December 31, 2021. CMU replaced Washington State's original opponent, Miami (Fla.), who had to withdraw from the Sun Bowl due to COVID-19 concerns.
