THE RFC MYC: USA South Athletic Conference (USAC)-(NCAA Division III)

USA South Athletic Conference (USAC)-(NCAA Division III)

Overview: In a span of almost roughly 18 calendar months, the Huntingdon University Hawks won back-to-back USA South Athletic Conference (USAC) championships, including five titles over the last six years.

In 2019, the Hawks finished 8-4 overall, and 6-1 in USAC play in advancing to the NCAA Division III playoffs. After pulling off the upset over a then 20th-ranked Berry team on the road in the first round, Huntingdon's season ended in the second round with a loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor.

In the pandemic-shortened spring season of 2021, the Hawks took home their second-straight USAC championship, knocking off a previously unbeaten squad in the Methodist College Monarchs (4-1 overall) 31-20 at Fayetteville, North Carolina on April 3. Huntingdon finished its abbreviated campaign at 3-1 overall with the win over Methodist.

With the traditional fall season of 2021 just around the corner, Huntingdon hopes to win its sixth conference championship over the last seven seasons. However, the likes of Methodist, Brevard (4-1 overall), and Averett (7-3 overall, 5-2 in the USAC in 2019) could prove to be worthy challengers to the Hawks for the USAC crown this season.

Finally, if that wasn't enough, the Southern Virginia University Knights from Buena Vista, Virginia has made the move from the ODAC to the USAC in time for this season, while longtime USAC member Averett will effectively trade places with SVU in joining the ODAC in time for next season (2022).
