THE RFC MYC: Mid-South Conference (MSC)-(NAIA)

Mid-South Conference (MSC)-(NAIA)

Overview: After an overall finish of 12-1 in 2019, where they fell to eventual national runner-up Marian in the national semifinals, the Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raiders from Columbia, Kentucky finally reached the top of the mountain in NAIA football, winning the program's first-ever national championship in the spring of 2021. Lindsey Wilson crushed Northwestern (Iowa), 45-13, on May 10 to finish the season undefeated at 11-0. During their run to the title, the Blue Raiders outscored their opponents 509-158, winning all of their games by an average margin of just over 32 points per game.

A quick look ahead to the fall 2021 season sees Lindsey Wilson having to re-group quickly to defend their championship, as the Blue Raiders finished the 2020-2021 season No. 1 in the final NAIA rankings. But they'll have plenty of teams pursuing them within their own conference (Mid-South Conference), as Keiser (Fla.)-(9-1 overall in 2020-21) finished the season at No. 4 in the final poll, followed by Reinhardt (9-1) at No. 8, and Georgetown (Ky.)-(6-2) at No. 13. That's not to mention that Southeastern (Fla.)-(5-1) also received votes in the final poll despite being snubbed for a playoff berth. Don't count out Faulkner (6-2) either.

Finally, in sad news that's unrelated to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cincinnati Christian University from Cincinnati, Ohio permanently closed its doors in 2019 due to declining enrollment. The CCU football team finished its 2019 campaign with a disappointing overall record of 2-8.
