Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC)-(NAIA)
Overview: The last two seasons within the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) were of two slightly different contrasts. While the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes dominated the KCAC en route to an undefeated regular season and NAIA playoff appearance in 2019, four different teams were separated by one full game at the end of the 2020-21 season, with the Bethel College Threshers advancing to postseason play after finishing 6-1 in KCAC action en route to a final overall record of 9-2.
As for NAIA playoff games that involved KCAC squads, Kansas Wesleyan advanced to the quarterfinals before the Coyotes were eliminated by Lindsey Wilson 35-24 on November 30, 2019, to finish at 12-1 overall. In 2020-21, Bethel cruised to a 9-0 record before being upset by Kansas Wesleyan on the final week of the regular season, on March 27, 2021, to finish the regular season at 9-1. The Threshers then fell to eventual national champion Lindsey Wilson, 42-10, in the first round of the NAIA playoffs, on April 17, to finish their season at 9-2 overall.
As the 2021 season quickly approaches, expect both Bethel and Kansas Wesleyan to get strong challenges from Avila (8-1 overall, 6-1 in the KCAC in 2020-21) as well as Southwestern (Kan.)-(7-2, 5-2). In fact, don't be surprised if any one of these four teams finds themselves advancing to postseason play when November arrives.
