THE RFC MYC: Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC)-(NCAA Division III)

Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC)-(NCAA Division III)

Overview: The 2019 season proved to be a strange one for the Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC), with five of the league's 10 teams not only finishing the year with a winning record but also winning at least eight games overall. The Case Western Reserve University Spartans were the leaders of the PAC, winning the conference title with an 8-1 mark in league action.

The Spartans lost both of their games to Carnegie Mellon and Union (N.Y.), respectively, by identical 24-21 final scores. The latter setback to Union, which came in the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs, ended Case Western Reserve's season at 9-2 overall.

One team that saw a tremendous turnaround in their fortunes last fall was the Grove City College Wolverines from Grove City, Pennsylvania. The Wolverines lost two out of their first three games before winning seven straight games to finish 9-2 overall. GCC ended its season on a winning note, with the Wolverines outlasting RPI 41-38 in the James Lynah Bowl on November 23

With Case Western Reserve choosing to suspend sports competition for the fall of 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, other PAC teams have been forced to revise their schedules. As a result, there could be a new leader of the "PAC" rising to the top this season, unless things change dramatically between now and the start of the season, which at the time this post was uploaded, would be on September 19.
