Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC)-(NCAA Division III)
Overview: Delaware Valley represented the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) well in 2019, advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III playoffs. There, the Aggies pulled out stunning road wins over Bridgewater (Va.) and Wesley, with the latter win avenging an early-season four-overtime loss to the Wolverines. Delaware Valley's season finally ended with a loss to eventual national champion North Central in the quarterfinal round, with the Aggies finishing their campaign at 11-2 overall.
While Del Val made a rare deep run in the D-III playoffs, other MAC teams didn't fare as well in postseason play. Stevenson (8-3 overall in 2019) lost to Johns Hopkins 51-28 in one of three games in the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series, while Wilkes (8-3) and Misericordia (6-5) fell to Susquehanna and Franklin and Marshall, respectively, in that same series.
As far as what the 2020 season could hold in store for the D-III version of the MAC, Delaware Valley was recently ranked #7 in the nation by Street and Smith's magazine in its annual preseason poll. That ranking alone could be a sign of things to come for the Aggies this fall. That is, of course, if the continued impact of COVID-19 doesn't disrupt the season by opening day on September 4, with Del Val playing host to Kean in a non-conference game.
