THE RFC MYC: Liberty League (LL)-(NCAA Division III)

Liberty League (LL)-(NCAA Division III)

Overview: The 2019 season was the "Year of the Dutchmen", as the Union College Dutchmen of Schenectady, N.Y. cruised to an undefeated regular season at 10-0 in clinching the Liberty League (LL) title, while also finishing league play at 6-0.

In the NCAA Division III playoffs, the Dutchmen rallied from an 18-point halftime deficit to defeat Case Western Reserve 24-21 in the first round before falling to Salisbury 62-41 in the second round. Union's season ended at 11-1 overall after losing to the Sea Gulls.

The 2020 season will have an obvious asterisk to it, as the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in nearby Troy, N.Y. canceled its entire fall sports schedule, including football, due to the COVID-19 pandemic on June 30. Otherwise, don't be surprised if Union repeats as Liberty League champions, with stiff challenges from squads such as Hobart and Ithaca. Both aforementioned finished at 4-2 in conference play en route to 9-2 and 8-3 overall records, respectively.
