THE RFC MYC: Northeast Conference (NEC)-(FCS)

Northeast Conference (NEC)-(FCS)

Overview: The Duquesne University Dukes (9-4 overall) made history with their first-ever postseason victory in 2018, as they downed Towson 31-10 in the first round of the FCS playoffs on November 24. It was also the first playoff win for the NEC since 2012. That was when Wagner upset Colgate 31-20.

The NEC will welcome two new members for 2019, as Long Island University (LIU) from New York State, as well as Merrimack College from Massachusetts, will both make the move up from the NCAA Division II Northeast 10 Conference. The athletics department at the Division II LIU-Post campus (with football) will merge with their NCAA Division I counterparts at the LIU-Brooklyn campus (without football) to form one unified university.

Even with the addition of two new members, the NEC as a whole will be competitive from top to bottom this fall, with Duquesne expected to do battle with Sacred Heart (7-4) and Central Connecticut State for the conference crown.
