THE RFC MYC: Centennial Conference (CC)-(NCAA Division III)

2017 Centennial Conference Final Standings (Courtesy of the Centennial Conference)

Overview: Despite losing just their second league contest dating back to the start of the 2010 season, the Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays still managed to win yet another outright Centennial Conference crown at the end of the 2017 season. Their season ended in the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs, losing a thriller to Washington and Jefferson, 31-28.

Meanwhile, the Franklin and Marshall College Diplomats were snubbed for a D-III playoff berth despite finishing the regular season at 9-1, with their lone loss coming to Johns Hopkins. But that didn't stop F&M from ending the season with five straight wins, as the Dips downed Widener 21-7 in the Centennial-MAC Bowl to finish the 2017 campaign at 10-1 overall.

Finally, in yet another irony, the Ursinus College Bears, the only team to beat the Blue Jays during the regular season, improved to 5-0 after knocking off Johns Hopkins, only to lose four of their final five games to finish the 2017 season at 6-4.

So what does the 2018 season hold for the Centennial Conference? Can Johns Hopkins return to the D-III playoffs? Or can Franklin and Marshall break through this fall? Or will another squad like Ursinus break the stranglehold that the Blue Jays have had on the CC over most of the last 10-15 years? Those are questions that are bound to be answered throughout the course of this upcoming season.
