THE RFC MYC: New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC)-(NCAA Division III)

New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC)-(NCAA Division III)

2021 NEWMAC Final Standings

Overview: Despite losing three of their first four games by a combined 23 points, the Springfield College Pride won the games that really and truly counted, in winning the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championship in 2021. One of those six wins in the NEWMAC came on October 30. That was when the Pride pulled off the upset over a then-undefeated U.S. Merchant Marine Academy squad, 28-23. That win allowed Springfield to finish unbeaten in conference action at 6-0. The Pride's season ended in the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs after losing a heartbreaker to Cortland, 26-21, to finish at 7-4 overall.

As for Merchant Marine, that lone loss to Springfield cost the Mariners a berth in the D-III playoffs. However, they did end their 2021 season on a winning note, as they rolled past Western New England on the road to win an ECAC New England Bowl Series game on November 20. With that win over WNEU, USMMA finished the season at 9-1 overall.

With another season just around the corner, it'll be interesting to see exactly which team ends up on top of the NEWMAC this fall.
