THE RFC MYC: New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC)-(NCAA Division III)

New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC)-(NCAA Division III)

2022 NEWMAC Final Standings

Overview: The Springfield College Pride overcame a slow start in non-conference action to take home another New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championship in 2022.

After starting their season at 1-2 overall, Springfield reeled off seven straight wins, including a perfect 6-0 mark in NEWMAC play, to win the NEWMAC title for the second straight season, as well as finish the regular season at 8-2 overall. That win streak included a close win over MIT on November 5, followed by a 35-21 win over now-former member Catholic the following week to secure the conference crown.

In the NCAA Division III playoffs, the Pride extended its' winning streak to eight straight games, pulling off the road upset over a previously undefeated Endicott squad, 17-14, in the first round, before losing to Ithaca, 31-20, in the second round. Springfield's season ended at 9-3 overall with the loss to Ithaca.

As the 2023 season approaches, there will be a new-look to the NEWMAC, as Catholic has left for the Landmark Conference, while Salve Regina (6-4 overall in 2022) and SUNY-Maritime (3-7) have both joined the league from the Commonwealth Coast and Eastern Collegiate Football Conferences, respectively.

Both of these aforementioned teams, as well as the other five remaining squads, will look to deny Springfield in its quest to win a third-straight NEWMAC title this fall.
