THE RFC MYC: Patriot League (FCS)

Patriot League (FCS)

Overview: The Holy Cross Crusaders made history in the fall of 2021, as they clinched their third straight outright Patriot League championship. The Crusaders cruised to a perfect 6-0 mark in Patriot League play to earn the automatic bid to the FCS playoffs. During that undefeated run to the league title, Holy Cross outscored all six of its conference opponents by a combined score of 253-76.

Once in the postseason, the Crusaders rallied in the closing seconds to defeat and eliminate Sacred Heart, 13-10, in the first round, before succumbing to Villanova, 21-16, in the second round, to finish their 2021 season at 10-3 overall. Holy Cross was the only team in the Patriot League to finish the season with double-digit wins.

Going into the 2022 season, Holy Cross has a chance to make more history, as the Crusaders hope to become the first program to win four straight Patriot League titles this fall. But they'll have plenty of challengers ready to take that crown away from them, with Colgate (5-6, 4-2) and Lehigh (6-5, 4-3) being the most likely contenders for the conference championship.
