THE RFC MYC: Mid-American Conference (FBS Group Of Five)

Mid-American Conference (FBS Group Of Five)

Overview: In a 2020 season that was cut short to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mid-American Conference (MAC) saw two teams emerge from the chaos, with Ball State (7-1 overall in 2020) and Buffalo (6-1) advancing to the MAC Championship Game at Ford Field in Detroit on December 18. The Cardinals handed the Bulls their lone loss of the season in that contest, as Ball State outlasted Buffalo 38-28 to win the MAC Championship. As for Ball State itself, its' only loss of the abbreviated 2020 campaign came in the season opener on November 4, with the Cardinals falling to Miami (Ohio) 38-31.

Both Buffalo and Ball State advanced to bowl games following the pandemic-shortened season, with the Bulls beating out Marshall 17-10 to win the Camellia Bowl on Christmas Day, while the Cardinals crushed San Jose State 34-13 to claim the Arizona Bowl crown on New Year's Eve. Don't be surprised if both teams find themselves in the MAC championship conversation for this fall.
