This week's installment of "RFC Throwback Thursday" turns the clock back to November 18, 1972. That was when the Kent State University Golden Flashes, led by the future University of Washington Huskies head coach Don James, took on the University of Toledo Rockets in Mid-American Conference action. The Golden Flashes downed the Rockets 27-9 to win their first and only MAC championship in program history. Kent State then lost to Tampa 21-18 in the Tangerine Bowl on December 29 to finish the 1972 season at 6-5-1 overall, as well as 4-1 in MAC action.
