THE RFC MYC: Colonial Athletic Association (CAA)-(FCS)

Colonial Athletic Association (CAA)-(FCS)

Overview: Year in and year out, the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) has ranked among the most competitive conferences in the FCS. The 2018 season proved to show yet another example of why the CAA continues to flex its muscles, as seven of the conference's 12 teams finished last fall with a winning record, with five of them advancing to postseason play. Also, every CAA team won at one least conference game, while losing at least one league game as well. That's not to mention that six CAA squads finished the season in the final STATS FCS poll.

As far as the FCS playoffs go, the University of Maine Black Bears (10-4 overall) won the CAA crown with a 7-1 mark in conference games. They advanced the farthest of any team in the league, losing to eventual national runner-up Eastern Washington in the national semifinals. James Madison (9-4) downed fellow CAA foe, Delaware, before falling to Colgate in a second-round heartbreaker.

Looking forward to the 2019 season, expect the CAA to continue its competitive balance from top to bottom. In fact, don't be surprised if the race for the conference championship comes down to the final week of the regular season.
