THE RFC MYC: Liberty League (LL)-(NCAA Division III)

Liberty League (LL)--(NCAA Division III)

2016 Final Standings-Liberty League

Overview: A tight race for the 2016 Liberty League football championship came down to a showdown between Hobart and St. Lawrence on November 5. When the smoke finally cleared, it was the Statesmen that rolled past the Saints, 34-18, to claim the LL's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs. While Hobart's season ended with a first-round loss to the University of Mount Union, St. Lawrence was forced to sit out postseason play altogether despite a 9-1 regular season record.

The 2017 season will bring about significant changes in membership for the Liberty League, with Ithaca jumping into the fold this fall, while Merchant Marine, Springfield, and WPI have left for the all-new New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). Those moves have reduced the Liberty League's membership to just six teams for football, therefore forcing the conference to forfeit its automatic bid to the D-III playoffs this season.
