With their imminent appearance in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) championship game vs. UCF looming this Saturday, this week's installment of "RFC Throwback Thursday" turns the clock back to 1973, 1979, and 1998 for the Tulane University football program. The 1973 Green Wave squad finished their season at 9-3 overall, falling to Houston in the Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl on December 29. The 1979 squad also finished at 9-3 after losing to Penn State in the Liberty Bowl on December 22, and the 1998 squad finished the season undefeated at 12-0 overall. The third and final aforementioned team finished No. 7 in the final Associated Press and coaches polls, respectively, after beating BYU 41-27 in the Liberty Bowl on December 31, 1998.
