We finally turn our attention to the former NCAA Division I-AA (now FCS) for this week's installment of "RFC Throwback Thursday", as we turn the clock back to 1986. That was when the University of Delaware Blue Hens traveled to Orono, Maine to do battle with the University of Maine Black Bears. That game featured the talents of future NFL quarterback Rich Gannon, who would go on to spend the next 18 seasons playing for four different franchises. As for the contest itself, the Blue Hens outlasted the Black Bears 34-31 on November 1. Delaware won a share of the then Yankee Conference championship, sharing the crown with UConn and Mass in finishing 5-2 in conference play that year. The Blue Hens finished the 1986 season at 9-4 overall after losing to eventual national runner-up Arkansas State in the quarterfinals.
