Overview: For the first time since 2009, a team other than the Franklin College Grizzlies represented the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) in the NCAA Division III playoffs and the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Engineers were that team in 2016. However, the Engineers postseason run was brought to a screeching halt by North Central in a 41-7 first round blowout.
The biggest question in the HCAC for 2017 is this: Can Franklin return to the form of the last seven years, or can Rose-Hulman make it back-to-back conference titles? Of course, only time will tell.
