(Video courtesy of Family Net Television.)

This week's installment of "RFC Throwback Thursday" turns the clock back to Saturday, September 17, 1988. That was when the Eastern Kentucky University Colonels traveled to Huntington, West Virginia to take on the Marshall University Thundering Herd in an early-season, non-conference contest within what was then known as the NCAA Division I-AA (now FCS) level.

In a high-scoring and close clash from start to finish, the Thundering Herd edged the Colonels 34-32 to move to 3-0 on the season. Marshall finished its 1988 season at 11-2 overall after falling to eventual national champion/ then-former Southern Conference foe Furman in the quarterfinals, while EKU ended its season at 11-3 after losing to eventual national runner-up Georgia Southern in the semifinals.
