Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC)-(FCS)
Overview: Despite losing longtime members Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) at beginning of the fall 2021 season, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) still found a way to not only have an undefeated conference champion, but also an unofficial national champion.
The South Carolina State University Bulldogs overcame a slow start to their 2021 season to finish 5-0 in MEAC action en route to winning the MEAC title. S.C. State capped off their unlikely run to the mythical HBCU national championship by pulling off the upset over the SWAC champion Jackson State University Tigers, 31-10, in the Celebration Bowl on December 18. The Bulldogs finished the season at 7-5 overall with the stunning win over the Tigers.
Going into the 2022 season, South Carolina State will look to win another MEAC crown, with teams like North Carolina Central (6-5, 4-1), Delaware State (5-6, 2-3), and Norfolk State (6-5, 2-3) looking to dethrone the Bulldogs.
