Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA)-(NCAA Division II)
Overview: The Bowie State University Bulldogs once again proved why they were one of the best teams at the NCAA Division II level, as they won their third straight Central Intercollegiate Athletics Association (CIAA) championship in 2021, defeating the Fayetteville State University Broncos by the final score of 17-7 on November 13. After opening their season with a tough 32-24 loss to FCS Delaware State on September 4, the Bulldogs reeled off 12 straight wins before losing to eventual national runner-up Valdosta State in the quarterfinal round of the D-II playoffs to finish at 12-2 overall.
With the focus now turning to the 2022 season, Bowie State will hope to win its fourth-straight CIAA crown, while Fayetteville State will look to steal the title away from the Bulldogs after falling in the title game for the third straight season. The Broncos will look to bounce back after finishing the 2021 season at 8-2 overall, as well as unbeaten in CIAA play at 7-0, which was good enough for them to win the Southern Division title.
