THE RFC MYC: Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA)-(NCAA Division III)

Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA)-(NCAA Division III)

Overview: The Hope University Flying Dutchmen dominated the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) in 2019, finishing unbeaten in conference play at 7-0 while compiling a 9-1 regular-season record. After a season-opening loss to Millikin on the road, the Flying Dutchmen reeled off nine straight wins to advance to the NCAA Division III playoffs. Hope's season ended in the first round of the playoffs with a 41-3 loss to Wartburg.

The pandemic-shortened season of 2020-21 saw a much different team go undefeated en route to the conference crown, as the Albion College Britons finished first out of the six of eight teams that took the field, finishing their campaign at 3-0 overall. Meanwhile, the Trine University Thunder settled for a second-place finish in the MIAA after finishing at 4-1 overall. Hope chose to sit out the split season due to COVID-19 concerns.

Looking forward to the traditional fall schedule, expect Albion, Hope, and Trine to be among the favorites to capture this year's MIAA crown. Off the field, Finlandia University of Hancock, Michigan has left the MIAA to join the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) as an associate member, leaving the former league with seven teams taking the football field this fall.
