Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC)-(NCAA Division III)
Overview: A 42-31 win over Endicott on November 2 helped propel the Western New England University Golden Bears to the 2019 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) championship undefeated at 7-0 in conference play. They advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs for the fifth straight season, only to have their postseason run cut short in the first round, losing a close contest to Brockport in the closing seconds, 33-28. The Golden Bears finished its season at 9-2 overall with that tough loss to the Golden Eagles.
As for Endicott, the Gulls also finished their 2019 campaign at 9-2 overall. However, they had to settle for an ECAC bowl berth, beating fledgling program Dean in a 52-10 rout. Endicott finished second in the CCC at 6-1 in conference action.
With the 2020 season canceled due to the coronavirus, expect both Endicott and WNEU to contend for the CCC crown once again going into the 2021 season. Also, Becker College of Leicester, Mass. has permanently closed its doors due to COVID-19 concerns. Becker's departure will leave the CCC with seven teams to take the field this fall.
