Overview: The Lehigh University Mountain Hawks had their best season in quite some time after finishing their 2024 season at 9-3 overall, while sharing the Patriot League title at 5-1 in conference play.

In the FCS playoffs, Lehigh rallied from an early fourth-quarter deficit to defeat and eliminate Richmond, 20-16, in a stunning first-round upset over the then #9 seeded Spiders on November 30. The Mountain Hawks' season ended the following weekend after losing to the #8 seed Idaho, 34-13, in the second round.

As 2025 arrives, the Patriot League will get a new member in its football circuit, with Richmond joining the fold after spending many seasons in the CAA. Ironically, the Spiders' first-ever game in its new conference will be the season opener, facing the Mountain Hawks in a rematch of that first-round playoff game at Lehigh on August 30.

Looking forward to the future, the Patriot League will get two more programs into the mix, as Villanova and William & Mary will join the conference for football in 2026. Adding both storied programs will give the league 10 teams by then.
