THE RFC MYC: Coastal Athletic Association (CAA)-(FCS)

Coastal Athletic Association (CAA)-(FCS)

Overview: Pay attention to the list of teams below. Do you notice who's missing?

Two teams that were members of the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) in 2024 have moved on to other conferences for 2025

One of those teams was the University of Richmond Spiders from Richmond, Virginia. The Spiders finished their final CAA campaign unbeaten at 8-0 before being upset by (soon-to-be) Patriot League member Lehigh 20-16 in the first round of the FCS playoffs. Richmond ended the 2024 season at 11-3 overall.

The other team to depart the CAA was the University of Delaware Blue Hens. Despite finishing its' final campaign at 6-2 in conference play and 9-2 overall, the Blue Hens were declared ineligible for postseason play. Delaware is transitioning to the FBS (Group of Five) level this season, with the Blue Hens set to join Conference USA for the first time in 2025.

As for the teams that are still in the CAA, expect some stiff competition for the conference crown this fall, with Rhode Island (11-3, 7-1 in 2024), Villanova (10-4, 6-2) and New Hampshire (8-5, 6-2) being among the primary contenders.

Still, that hasn't stopped Villanova and William & Mary from joining Richmond in the "new-look" Patriot League in 2026. The departure of both programs will leave the CAA with 14 teams.

In fact, by the time this post is published, other teams on this list might seek greener pastures elsewhere.
