Southern Athletic Association (SAA)-(NCAA Division III)
2016 Final Standings- Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SAA)
Overview: Despite a 9-1 regular season record in 2016, it was that one loss-a 34-10 setback at Washington (Mo.) on October 1-that cost the Berry College (Ga.) Vikings their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III playoffs. With Washington-as well as fellow Midwestern rival Chicago-now out of the Southern Athletic Association (SAA), expect Berry to be the team to beat in 2017. Meanwhile, the SAA will take a "Texas Two-Step" for this season with the addition of Austin and Trinity (Tex.), as both teams make the move from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). The addition of both institutions brings the total number of schools in the SAA that play football to nine.
NOTE: If the link to the team's schedule is unlisted, it means that the team has not submitted its schedule for the 2017 season. When the team's schedule is submitted, the link (s) will appear in each blog post.
