New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC)--(NCAA Division III)
Overview: The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) will become another new league to join the NCAA Division III ranks within the New England region, as eight teams will join the fold for its inaugural season this fall. Out of those eight squads, Norwich (5-5 overall in 2016), finished with the best conference record among their new league brethren at 5-2. On the flip side, Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), finished the 2016 season at 6-4 overall, but 3-4 against their soon-to-be NEWMAC foes. Due to NCAA by-laws, the NEWMAC cannot receive an automatic bid to the Division III playoffs until 2019.
If it seems like there are so many teams that came to the all-new NEWMAC from different conferences, you're right. Of the eight squads to join the new conference, three are from the Liberty League, three from the NEFC in Coast Guard, Maine Maritime, and MIT, one from the ECFC in Norwich, and even one team from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) in Catholic University out of Washington, D.C.
