THE RFC MYC: Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC)-(FCS)

Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC)-(FCS)

Overview: Despite finishing the regular season at only one game above .500 at 6-5, the Howard University Bison won the one game that they needed to not only win a share of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) title at 4-1 in conference play but also advance to postseason play in the process.

That big win came on November 11, when the Bison upset then #7 North Carolina Central 50-20. The victory helped Howard clinch the MEAC's automatic bid and advance to the Celebration Bowl on December 16. The Bison gave Florida A&M all it could handle before falling to the Rattlers 30-26 to finish the 2023 season at 6-6 overall.

As for North Carolina Central, the crushing loss to Howard forced the Eagles to settle for a second-place finish in the MEAC and an at-large bid to the FCS playoffs after finishing the regular season at 9-2 and 4-1 league play. NCCU's season ended at 9-3 overall after losing 49-27 to Richmond in the first round.

Looking ahead to 2024, expect another close race for the MEAC title, with any of the six teams looking to claim that coveted bid to the Celebration Bowl. But don't be surprised if Howard or NCCU face each other for the conference crown yet again.
