This week's installment of "RFC Throwback Thursday" turns the clock back to October 22, 1983. That was when the East Stroudsburg University Warriors played host to the Millersville University Marauders in an NCAA Division II/Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference game that aired regionally on the CBS Television Network. It was one of three games involving Division II teams aired on CBS that day, including Mansfield (which no longer has a football program) at Towson (State), as well as North Alabama (now FCS) at Troy (State)-(now in the FBS Group of Five Sun Belt Conference).
In fact, throughout the course of that 1983 season, both ABC and CBS would air multiple games involving non-autonomous NCAA Division I-A (now FBS Group of Five), as well as NCAA Division I-AA (now FCS), NCAA Division II, and NCAA Division III teams, on a regional or local basis.
Now, sit back and enjoy another great moment in alternative and non-power conference college football history.
