RFC Throwback Thursday Double Feature Part 2: BYU at San Diego State-1991

(Video courtesy of ESPN)

Part 2 of our "RFC Throwback Thursday" double feature turns the clock back to November 16, 1991. That was when the Brigham Young University (BYU) Cougars did battle with the San Diego State University Aztecs in a high-scoring barnburner that decided the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) championship. This contest featured 1990 Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer starting at quarterback for BYU, as well as future Pro Football Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk. Now sit back and enjoy yet another great moment in the history of college football outside of the major (Power Five) conferences.

RFC Throwback Thursday: Colorado State-Wyoming Rivalry: History of the Border War-2019

(Video #1 courtesy of Stadium)

This week's installment of "RFC Throwback Thursday" focuses on the annual "Border War" rivalry between the Colorado State University Rams and the University of Wyoming Cowboys. The video talks about how the "Bronze Boot" became the official trophy that was given to the winner of this annual contest between the current members of the Mountain West Conference, which dates all the way back to 1899. Although the Cowboys outlasted the Rams 31-17 in the most recent meeting on November 6, 2021, Colorado State still leads the all-time series over Wyoming 59-49-5.

(Video #2 courtesy of ESPN)

Click on the link above to watch a bonus video of the 1994 contest between Colorado State and Wyoming. This was back when both institutions belonged to the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) during that league's days in what is now the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The Rams downed the Cowboys 35-24 on November 5 en route to winning the WAC title but lost to Michigan in the Holiday Bowl to finish the season at 10-2 overall.

RFC Weekly Predictions: Week Of November 13, 2021

Last Week: 70-41 (.631)*

This Year: 779-382 (.671)

*-Last week's entry in the "RFC Weekly Predictions" column inadvertently/incorrectly listed this week's game between Davidson and Dayton, as well as Henderson State's game at Oklahoma Baptist, which was listed as Ouachita Baptist instead. Davidson defeated St. Thomas (Minn.) 42-15, while Henderson State beat Oklahoma Baptist, 36-34, both on Saturday, November 13, 2021. RFC regrets the error.
