In the season finale of "RFC Throwback Thursday", we turn the clock back to September 10, 2016, when then five-time defending FCS national champion North Dakota State played host to Eastern Washington in a triple-overtimethriller. Ironically, both teams would see their respective seasons end with home losses in the national semifinals, with NDSU's five-year run as national champions stopped cold by eventual national champion James Madison, while EWU fell to eventual national runner-up Youngstown State in the other semifinal contest.
The 2018 edition of the Bison will square off against the Eagles for the FCS national championship on Saturday. NDSU will look to win its seventh title in eight years, while EWU hopes to clinch its first crown since 2010.
